Established in 1966 as an independent post-secondary institution, the University of Calgary now brings over 31,000 students into its halls annually. Composed of 14 faculties and over 85 research centres, the University of Calgary is regularly ranked among the top universities in the world and has achieved Best Educational Institutional in Calgary yet again. In 2016, both the QS World Universities Ranking and the Times Higher Education Ranking named it the number one university in North America.

With more than 170,000 alumni spread across 152 countries, the university has made some tremendous contributions to culture and society.
