If you’ve lived in Calgary for any time at all, you are probably familiar with our very own David Spence. If you can believe it, he has been with CTV Calgary since 1981. David arrived at CTV after studying the Meteorology program at Mississippi State University. He is now the television station's Sky Watch Weather Specialist. He also volunteers with Weather in the Classroom, where he has the opportunity to talk to thousands of students each year about his passion.
David has won the Calgary Herald Readers’ Choice Award several times and in 2017 he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. He says he loves being a broadcaster because it allows him to help an enormous number of people with decisions in their daily lives. In his spare time, he explores the outdoors and camps with his family of five across Western Canada and down the West Coast - when the weather is good of course!
