Best Theatre Company: Theatre Calgary

THEATRE CALGARY

Theatre Calgary traces its origin back to the 1960s grassroots movement for local professional theatre; today, it is recognized as the Best Theatre Company in Calgary. Producing live theatre performances several times a year, this company entertains the masses with dozens of actors and actresses singing, dancing, acting and pouring their hearts into these very productions. Year after year, Calgarians return to this theatre to watch performances of their favourite classics and newly produced renditions.

As a business and industry that depends on human interaction and a live audience, Theatre Calgary has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. They were forced to cancel their final two shows of the 2019-2020 season and pause their 2020-2021 season. For regular theatre attendees, as well as those working in the industry, this has been a huge upset to their regular routine and creative output. 

While we're waiting for live theatre to return, you can watch Shakespeare by the Bow online Wednesdays and Saturdays from June 24-July 18 with a “text to donate” option so that you can help support Theatre Calgary during this time.
