From a young age, Andrew Phung was taught that ‘you learn by failing’. Not only is this guy an outstanding comedian, but he also acts, directs, teaches – you name it. When Andrew walks into the room, you can instantly feel his enthusiasm for what he does. He owns the stage with unique character and a full tank of energy each and every time he steps under those lights. He began his journey at the Loose Moose Theatre as a volunteer and 10 years later he still performs there as a Senior Ensemble Performer & Instructor. Acting as a mentor for aspiring improvisors, Andrew instructs them on stage presence and how to perform in front of crowds.
Currently, Andrew splits his time between Calgary and Toronto while he stars in the hilarious t.v. show Kim’s Convenience on CBC, a comedy about a Korean-Canadian family who runs a convenience store in Toronto. He teaches improvisation at Central Memorial High School to help keep the passion for comedy alive in Calgary. Andrew is a popular choice to host stages at the Calgary Stampede or emcee for charity events around the city. His passion for what he does and the energy he brings to the stage is incredible.
