“Bow Cycle, this is where the fun begins” was a term coined in 1960 by the store owners Jim and Mary Sibthorpe during a radio commercial promoting the store. The bike shop started small in Bowness, before it was even part of Calgary as we know it today. Eventually the city grew around it and Jim and Mary’s two sons took the store over and have now been successfully running it for 30 years. Their extensive knowledge and expertise may just be one of the reasons that Bow Cycle has won Best Bike Shop in Calgary for three consecutive years.
Now when it comes to bike shopping, Bow Cycle has all the major players under one roof. They have enough road, mountain, fat, city, BMX, and cyclo-cross bikes to make your head spin. Luckily, their long term staff members are so knowledgeable that they are probably overqualified and extremely happy to help you enjoy life on two wheels instead of two feet. Besides bikes, you can get all your cycling gear, pads, helmets, and bike accessories in this one spot. Perhaps you aren’t looking to buy but simply to rent. Bow Cycle also rents bikes, wheels, travelling cases and bike racks so that you can try out certain brands and see what you like before you buy.
