Best Place to Walk your Dog: Nosehill Park

Nosehill Park

Nose Hill Natural Environment Park lies in the northwest part of the city, covering more than 11 square kilometres. According to the City of Calgary web site, the park most likely gets its name from the fact that, from certain locations and with a little imagination, it looks like a nose.

Nose Hill is one of the two remaining examples of the high plains which once covered this area. As a high-plain area, it’s home to several hikes, plenty of fabulous fauna and fescue and countless wildlife, but perhaps most importantly, it’s also home to the best parking lot in all of Calgary. The seemingly endless pathways provide the perfect place to walk your dog especially because the whole park is off leash. You can meet other furry pals and dog walkers, enjoy the open space and maybe catch a sunset on your way back.
