Haven’t heard of Free Little Pantry yet? What started off as a small gesture from a local northeast community member has turned into a neighbourhood fixture. Margot Baker set up a free pantry in her front yard over a year and a half ago to help provide groceries for those in need. As the pantry became more well-known, she struggled to keep up with demand, but her fellow neighbours pitched in to help keep the pantry running. She funds the project herself along with donations, costing her approximately $75/week to stock.
First Calgary Financial and their community partners: Calgary Foundation and Resident Plex will be hosting a workshop for Calgarians that walks through start to finish a grassroots grants project. Participants will learn how to apply for grants, funding of the project and decorating little free pantries that will be placed in the community.
Learn how you too can bring Little Free Pantry to your neighbourhood and help those who may struggle putting food on the table.
All are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support this impactful
The Best of Calgary Labs are presented in partnership with Best of Calgary and First Calgary Financial. The intention is to bring Calgarians an exclusive opportunity to connect with the best of our city through fun, interactive and unique events.
