Shine up the family car AND your formal shoes Calgary, because high school graduation ceremonies are happening after all. An idea dreamt up by Best of Calgary's very own, Gary Davies, and the team at e=mc2 events, has come to fruition when Alberta Health Services (AHS) approved the project earlier this month.
Drive-through graduation celebrations could start as early as June 15, 2020, so text your friends, tell your parents and share the good news, because #drivethrugrad2020yyc is in motion.
If all goes as planned, the drive-through graduation day in Calgary will look something like this:
Start your graduation festivities at the entrance with a touchless registration. There’s a limit of only one car per household.
No graduation is complete without a professional photograph to commemorate the day. Hop out of the car in your finest attire and choose between a traditional backdrop or green screen to create a lasting memory of your big day.
Next stop: cap and gown. Slip these on for that real-graduation feel - you've done it, high school is over!
Drive through a sea of proud supporters, cheering you on as you approach the graduation 'stage.'
Finally, it's your turn to cross the stage and graduate. It will certainly be a graduation to remember.
After the stage, pull into the drive-in for virtual speeches on a large movie screen, as if it were all unfolding live in front of you.
Congratulations, you have just graduated from high school - drive-thru style!
Registration is now open! Before you start the process below, make sure you know which group of friends you would like to graduate with, and ensure you all pick the same time slot.
Please note: At this time, not all schools have dates and time slots allocated. As you navigate through registration, you will receive the most up-to-date info for your school and how to rally your community!
