Best of Calgary is a celebration of the people, places and voices that make Calgary an amazing place to live and call home.

This is the Best of Calgary.

We are for the renegades and the risk-takers. We are for the modern-day movers and mavericks putting our city on the map. We are for the intellects, artists, athletes, creatives, entrepreneurs, helpers, and culture keepers who call this city home. We are for anyone and everyone who loves Calgary for all its greatness, all its energy, and all that it stands for. 

Since 2016, Best of Calgary has been celebrating the people, places, and things that make Calgary a great place to live, work and simply be. It has always been our intention to bring the community together and to build a better Calgary for us all. 

These are tough times. 

Businesses are changing overnight. We’re all getting scrappy to survive. 

While this moment in our history may be uncertain, one thing we know for sure is that Calgarians are resilient. We are tough and we show up for each other, and we fight to get back up. We rely on our neighbours in times like this more than ever.

After much consideration, rather than releasing our Best of Calgary winners on May 1st as we have in previous years, we will be pausing the announcement until we are all back on our feet again. We will use this time to support our fellow Calgarians, local communities, and small businesses as we deal with the COVID-19 crisis. In the meantime, we want to bring our city a NEW Best of Calgary. A series of nods, recognition, and awards that celebrate those who are making a difference in our city, right now. 

We will be using this platform to share good news happening right here in Calgary.

If you know of a local business that is innovating and pivoting overnight, we want to hear about it. If you see a local hero using this time to give back and help others, shout it out. If you spot a neighbour going above and beyond for their community, don’t let it go by unnoticed.

Community is not cancelled. 

We are here to uplift, to encourage, and to support – in the good times and the bad. We are your source for “good news only” about our city. 

Help us celebrate the positives by nominating a fellow Calgarian who is doing something awesome for our city, or a local business who has pivoted and thrived in serving their community during this time of need.
